Just introducing myself. I'm a 25yo female filmmaker currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts (although I'm contemplating a big move to Austin Texas within the next year and a half). I just finished directing my first feature film, Douglas.. I've been diagnosed borderline-autistic, although I've been able to overcome a lot of the social issues that come with that (you have to if you direct movies...)I study a lot of ancient egyptian philosophy, anarchism, and currently I'm reading up on nihilism for a character I'm writing.

Outside of that, I love kitties, rainbows, and chainsaws.

Four years of film school down the drain when my back went. Man, do I regret that sometimes. Welcome.

Very fascinating.

What's the plan for your film? "Congratulations" (or whatever is appropriate in this situation) on overcoming social issues! Have you ever been to Egypt?

I had more questions/comments but apparently my mind is junk today.

I'll be sure to bombard you, if they come back to me!

film: edit - submit to festivals - try to get distrobution. I'm submitting to bigger festivals like Tribeca, Austin Film Fest, SXSW, Slamdance, LA Independent, etc. but my dream would be to get into Toronto. The film, despite it being only $30,000 budget wise, looks like a 35mm feature, but it was shot on HD at 24 frames per second with 35mm film lenses, so we didn't have to spend mass amounts of dough on 35mm film, film processing, and transferring to video for editing, and then printing back to film for projection. I'm very pleased and I think we have a good shot at getting into some noteworthy festivals. At the very least, its a great portfolio piece and a launching point for me.

social issues: I'm borderline Asperger's (OCD mixed with severe social anxieties, plus insane ability to focus on one thing at a time until the task is done, sensory issues) and it took a long time for me to understand the nature of networking. I usually was the one who would get really quiet and try to hide in social situations. Something about this year made me stop doing that.

Egypt: no, but I really really want to. On my own terms though, which is difficult, usually you need a tourguide to get close to anything worth getting close to and I hate tours. I'm not interested in the aesthetics and usually Egyptian mythos is looked at through greco-roman goggles.

feel free to bombard me, I like answering questions.
